2018 || Blogging Goals

Why Set Goals

This post probably won’t be very interesting to people who are non bloggers, So feel free to skip it if it isn’t for you. I started writing here in January 2017. This was my first post. I would like to think I have found my voice and style of writing in the past year. Although I am sure it will continue to evolve during this year as we all strive for growth in our lives.

My overarching word of the year is action, you can read about this in this post. I want to take action with my blog and although it is still a hobby, I would like to run it a little more professionally and hone my skills. Having set goals will make me more accountable and also help me know what direction to take when I’m feeling unsure of what to do next.

What You Can Expect

Posting Schedule

First off I want to explain that setting a posting schedule feels me with great anxiety. My brain automatically kicks into you can’t do this territory and starts asking. Who do you think you are? So why am I doing this? Growth comes from discomfort. Ultimately I will grow as a person, writer and blogger following this schedule.

I plan to post two times per week. Which doesn’t seem like much, especially as there are others who post daily. However, I am a very emotional and sporadic writer. This will be a challenge. My plan is to upload content on a Sunday and a Wednesday. Sunday’s will be a linkup and Wednesday’s will be something without a prompt.

I hope throughout this year I will get the chance to do some reviews of products both paid and unpaid. I am hoping to branch out in my content too. Including fashion, skin care and make up as I start to re discover my style again. I also want to share about learning to shop more sustainably and ethically. I won’t be perfect but want to share what happens with you all. I hope to make this blog about me as a whole person and not just as a Mama. I hope you will join me.

Wow you’ve achieved so much in a relatively short amount of time. All the best with reaching you’re goals, I predict that this time next year you’ll have smashed them :o) I’ve stopped looking at the numbers as a statistician would tell me not to bother anymore! Blogging has changed so much since I started 7 years ago and while I still get over 100 views a day it’s mostly to popular posts in my archives. It’s really hard to generate interest in current writing but I’ve concluded I write because it’s in me to do so and just connecting with one person is enough!

      Hi Nic,

Thank you for you encouragement. I really hope to have smashed my goals by next year, I think it will really help with my confidence.

You have quite a good viewership it seems to me, you should be proud of why you have achieved. You are right Blogging has changed even in the 3 years I have been dabbling in it. I think it has to be a full time job to truly make a ‘sucess’ moneywise from it. I think your attitude is great. I love how consistent you are with commenting on my posts it really does make my day!!

I will always do my best to read your posts and genuinely enjoy reading your posts. We’ve got this and 2018 is going to be a great year for us both.

Well done! I remember setting such goals, too. I remember thinking I wouldn’t be able to pull it off, too. I remember… but having that schedule motivates you, pushes you to do it. It is ultimately a good thing.

It’s helpful to know that others set targets and find them daunting too. Having a schedule is working. I am finding it a little scary but also motivating. I can’t wait till the two pots become second nature and I can add in a third, but hitting smaller goals and being consistent is the first step.

      Hi Parth,

Welcome. Thanks for stopping by, it’s not often I get comments from men. I really hope you get your viewer goal! I will pass your site details onto my
Husband as he loves games and is doing a Masters in it. So he can create and lead teams to create computer games.

Good luck with all your goals. They seem very reasonable and achievable! I’m sure you will be able to accomplish every one on your list. I have made some blogging goals for this year too and it’s such a good motivation to move forward!

      Hi Johanne

My goals are reasonable but I’m not good at sticking at things. Although I did publish a post at 11:55 on Wednesday night to keep to my new schedule. So that’s something!

Would love to know your blogging goals. Will check out your blog incase you have posted there.

Cherie you are so right, without goals or some kind of structure its much more difficult to determine whether or not you have been successful. I wish you good luck in achieving your goals this year and I look forward to watching. Take care.

      Hi Margaret

Thank you so much for reading and commenting. I don’t normally set goals so I am hoping it will hold me accountable. Let’s see.
