My Hearty Life

I recently discovered a new blog through twitter, the beautiful Mary writes about her life over at The Hearty Life She decided at the beginning of the year to start her own linkie #myheartylife. It is currently a little seedling, but I see it growing into so much more.

There are three simple prompts for you to focus on through out the week. What you are Grateful for, What you have Suceeded at and what you have found beauty in.

The purpose of these prompts are to get us focusing on the positives that are happening everyday in our lives. These prompts are to draw us back into the present. To keep our feet firmly ground when we feel we are spiralling in a sea of negativity.

Grateful For…

Kind people. This week I have had quite a bit of help from fellow bloggers, people who are more successful than me. People who have been willing to answer my questions and show me simple tips and tricks to run my blog more effectively. I am grateful for every comment on and share of my blog. It might seem shallow, but this week has solidified my desire to make something more of this blog.

Succeeded At…

This week I have succeeded at living my over arching word of the year, which you can read about here. This has seen me clean the whole of the upstairs of my house, secure my first guest writer spot on another blog, hit my target viewership for the month and link up to #myheartylife. It may not seem like much for others but it means I am going into this next week feeing positive and full of momentum.

Found Beauty In…

Cleaning. I know it sounds crazy. This weekend my husband has been away at GameJam, no I never made it up, it is actually called that. Sean is currently studying for his Masters in Something to do with gaming.

The university were part of an event where teams are given a brief and 48 hours to deconstruct the brief and create a working playable game. What an experience, if you are into that kind of thing.

Whilst Sean was off at GameJam I was solo parenting all four boys. Instead of thinking about how nice it must be for Sean going off doing what he loves. I thought about how exhausted he was going to be when he came home.

I thought that making sure the house was much tidier than normal and ensuring the bedroom had fresh bedding, no clothes or rubbish on the floor and generally a nice calm environment would be so nice for him to come home to. Taking the time to tidy was a physical way of expressing my love and in-turn I found the beauty in cleaning.

Thank you so much for reading. I will be linking up every Sunday. Feel free to click the photo below to go and read Mary’s latest post and to see who else has Linked up to. Of you are a blogger why’s dont you share some love and link up to!

I love this because I too find beauty in cleaning & have brought up my 3 boys to do the same. My toddler girl, not so much yet. Lol. Congrats on succeeding. Keep up the great work!

I’m not a major cleaning fan if I am honest, I am probably messier than the kids in all honesty (but in my defence I know I have to clean it up, so I get a bit of a meh attitude towards it). However I agree solo cleaning is by far the best!!!

Cherie thank you so much for your support in my new linky and for linking up, I was hoping it would grow faster, but things take time and I love reading about the good in others lives as well as reflecting on my own little positiveness!
I am so glad you have had some blogging support. It is so tricky sometimes and I love that people have been able to help you. Stick with it, you will experience wonderful things!
And well done with all of your successes, they sound like great things! #MyHeartyLife

      Hi Mary.

Thanks for stopping by to see my post. I really genuinely love the idea of your hashtag and I can understand why you were hoping it would grow.

It will but good things are worth waiting for. I will continue to share it. It’s helped me focus on the good things happening around me this week, wondering what I will write about in week 5.

      Thanks for starting it. #myheartylife

Hi Mary (and Cherie), I love your hashtag too and it’s giving me a renewed focus for blogging this year at a time when I was seriously considering packing it in! I was too late for this week but you’ll see me adding my link on Sunday – the post is written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It does mean I’ve stayed up far too late tonight writing it which is ironic as my post is about self-care and how getting enough sleep is the corner stone of that for me.

        Hey Nic.

I am so glad this hashtag has renewed your passion for blogging, when you have been doing it for a while it’s easy to become uninspired. I am sure this comment is going to bring a big smile to Mary’s face.

I can’t wait to see what you share on Sunday. I love the irony of staying up late when you talk about how not doing that is an act of self care, however sometimes I find blog writing a form of selfcare too. Sometimes you have to stay up whist the words and inspiration are flowing. It’s all about balance right? Also how good does it feel to have Sunday’s play already prepped?!

I love the 3 different things to think about for the week. I especially love that you added “succeeded at.” So many times us boys for get to think about what are doing well and we just beat ourselves up all the time. Lovely post.

      Hi Katie,

Thank you so much for your kind words, I agree it’s too easy to beat ourselves up. It’s good for the soul to focus on things we do well.

I LOVE finding beauty in cleaning! Nothing makes me happier than a clean house! <3

Hi Rachel, I need to find more beauty in cleaning. It didn’t last long. Haha. I love a clean house but it gets undone quicker than I can do it!

I love this post! I have one boy, I couldn’t imagine 4! Lol although I would probably love it. And when it comes to the things you have succeeded, those are AMAZING accomplishments! Don’t worry about everyone else’s accomplishments, you are definitely on the right track. I’m so happy for you and all of your accomplishments and I hope you continue to reach every other goal that you have. I absolutely love the idea of this hashtag so I will definitely go check her out and I may even take part in it! Lately I’ve been having somewhat of a hard time being positive so this may be just what I need 🙂 Thank you for sharing!

      Hi Sigoni,

Thank you for dropping by and taking the time to comment. Thank you for reminding me not to compare my successes to others.

It’s difficult when you have a hard time being positive. It doesn’t come naturally to me. I am hopefully posting a blog tonight with my top ten tips to get positive. I hope to see you follow and play along with the hashtag.
